Word has been received of the death on Oct 8 of Victor F. Mahan of Seward, Alaska a former resident of Crawfordsville. Mr. Seward was a retired member of ILWU Local 60, Seward United Methodist Church and Pioneers of Alaska Igloo 9. He was born in Montgomery County in 1904 and resided in Indiana until moving to Alaska in 1945. He was married Sept 20, 1949 to the former Elizabeth Lydick Peck of Waveland who survives. Other survivors are a daughter, Carolyn Ostler of Frankfort; a son, Brent Mahan of Boise, Idaho; two stepdaughters, Lura Peck Kennedy of Kirkland, Wash and Sarah Peck Langton of Beverton, Ore; a sister, Fern Titus of Lafayette; three brothers, Raymond Mahan of Crawfordsville; Russell Mahan of Bandon, Ore and Edgar" Bud" Mahan of Miles City Mont; 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Memorial services were at Seward with burial in Sugar Grove Cemetery in Tippecanoe County.
